Team Game Rules

The team game is available only when there are exactly 4 players. Players are paired into teams of 2, with partnerships changing every 6 holes to ensure each player partners with everyone else during the round.

Team Pairings:

• Teams rotate every 6 holes
• Three different pairings occur during a round
• Each pairing must be unique
• Pairings start from the designated starting hole

Team Rotation Example:

If Starting Hole = 1:

• First 6 Holes (1-6): Players A&B vs Players C&D
• Second 6 Holes (7-12): Players A&C vs Players B&D
• Third 6 Holes (13-18): Players A&D vs Players B&C

Two calculation methods are available:

1. Standard Mode:

• Compare the best (lowest) score from each team
• If one team has a better best score, that team wins the hole
• If the best scores are tied, compare the second scores from each team
• If one team wins either comparison, that team wins the hole
• Each player in the winning team receives 1 bet unit in total
• Each player in the losing team loses 1 bet unit in total
• If both comparisons are tied, the hole is a draw

2. HighHigh LowLow Mode:

• A team wins ONLY if they win BOTH the best-score and second-score comparisons
• If either comparison is tied or lost, the hole is a draw
• This mode creates more draws than Standard Mode
• Each player in the winning team receives 1 bet unit in total
• Each player in the losing team loses 1 bet unit in total

Lunch Pool Feature

The Lunch Pool provides an alternative settlement method based on game performance.

Instead of direct cash payments between players, players may contribute to a lunch pool.

Lunch Pool Calculation:

• For 4-player games where all players participate in individual game:
  • Both individual and team game results count
  • Each draw (individual or team): Player contributes 1 bet unit
  • Each loss (individual or team): Player contributes 2 bet units
• For 4-player games where any player opts out of individual game:
  • Only team game results count toward lunch pool
  • Each team game draw: Player contributes 1 bet unit
  • Each team game loss: Player contributes 2 bet units
• For 3-player games (no team game):
  • Only individual game results count
  • Each individual game draw: Player contributes 1 bet unit
  • Each individual game loss: Player contributes 2 bet units

The app displays both options:

• The Combined Total (direct cash settlement)
• Or Lunch Pool Contribution (alternative)

Players can choose which settlement method to use.

Overview

The Golf Scoring Assistant app allows golfers to track scores for up to 4 players during a round of golf, calculate winners, and determine monetary settlements based on configurable game rules. The app supports both individual and team games with flexible options.

Individual Game Rules

The individual game allows each player to compete against all other participating players on a hole-by-hole basis.

Participation:

• Players can opt in or out of the individual game on the Individual Game Settings screen
• Individual game can be globally disabled in Game Settings

Scoring Calculation:

For each hole:

1. Compare scores of all participating players
2. The player with the lowest score on a hole wins 1 bet unit from each other participating player
3. If there is a tie for the lowest score, the hole is declared a draw with no money exchanged
4. Players who opted out do not participate in individual game calculations

Example Calculation:

Scenario: Hole 5, Par 4

• Player A: 3 strokes (opted in)
• Player B: 5 strokes (opted in)
• Player C: 4 strokes (opted in)
• Player D: 3 strokes (opted out)

Result:

• Player A wins as the lowest scorer (among participants)
• Player A receives 1 bet unit from both Player B and Player C
• Player A: +2 bet units
• Player B: -1 bet unit
• Player C: -1 bet unit
• Player D: No change (not participating)

Game Flow

1. Set up game details (location, date, players, bet value)
2. Configure game settings (score limit, calculation methods)
3. Choose player participation in individual game
4. Set up team pairings (if 4 players)
5. For each hole:
   • Set Par value
   • Enter scores for all players
6. View results upon completion
7. Share results or view detailed scorecard

Scoring Calculations

Scores are color-coded according to their relationship to par:

• Eagle or better (2+ under par): Dark Green
• Birdie (1 under par): Green
• Par (equal to par): Blue
• Bogey (1 over par): Red
• Double Bogey or worse (2+ over par): Dark Red

Example: For a Par 4 hole:

• Score of 2: Eagle or better (Dark Green)
• Score of 3: Birdie (Green)
• Score of 4: Par (Blue)
• Score of 5: Bogey (Red)
• Score of 6+: Double Bogey or worse (Dark Red)
